Glossary
The words AlignPoll uses.
A short dictionary of the ideas you meet across AlignPoll, and what each one means here.
- Event
- Something a group wants to agree a date for: its title, description, timezone, the options proposed and, in the end, the confirmed choice.
- Organiser
- The person who creates and manages an event, through its private organiser link or the account it is saved to.
- Participant
- Someone who answers an event from its share link, with a display name. Participants never need an account.
- Proposed day
- A calendar date offered in a date poll. It is a date in the event's timezone and never shifts when read elsewhere.
- Time slot
- A start and end time offered as one option, such as 16:00–18:00 on one date.
- Availability
- A participant's Yes, Maybe or No for each option. Every option starts as No until the participant changes it.
- Round
- One set of options people answer: the day round of a date poll, or the time round. Publishing times closes the day round; its results stay readable.
- Event timezone
- The timezone the organiser chose for the event. Its dates and times are always shown in it.
- Display timezone
- A timezone you choose under Show times in, to see timed options where you are. Your browser remembers the choice.
- Private organiser link
- The link that manages an event. Anyone holding it can manage the event, and a lost one cannot be recovered unless the event is saved to an account.
- Private edit link
- The link a participant receives after saving, to change their own answers from any device.
- Confirmed event
- An event whose organiser has chosen the final day or time. Its answers can no longer change.
- Invitation
- The “It's a date.” summary of a confirmed event: what, when, the timezone and how to join, ready to copy. AlignPoll does not send it.
- Joining details
- How people will get together: the format, an optional host, and a meeting link for an online format or a location for In person.
- Calendar file
- A download of the confirmed day or time that most calendar apps can import.
- Account
- A free, optional sign-in by email, without a password. It keeps your saved events together across devices.
- My events
- Your account's list of saved events. Removing an event from it does not delete the event.
- Personal
- AlignPoll's free way to plan, with login optional.
- Business
- A paid event, owned by a free account, that adds company branding and a CSV download. Each new one uses one available Event.
- Event pack
- A one-time purchase of Events for Business: 1 Event US$9, 10 Event US$20 or 50 Event US$30. There is no subscription or automatic refill.
- Company branding
- A Business event's company name and optional logo, shown to participants first with a small Powered by AlignPoll credit.
- Larger poll
- An event with more than the 15 dates AlignPoll allows today. You can leave your email to ask about one.
